I heard a teaching story once, where a master says to his students, “What does the musician and the artist have in common with the mystic?”
After intense thinking the students all give up and finally the master says, “The musician and the artist realize that the finest speech does not come from the tongue, it comes out of the silence.”
May we incorporate a new listening of what the silence, speaking through nature, speaking between the lines, speaking between the sounds, even speaking between the beats of our own heart, is saying to us.
It is the voice of God.
In the silence is Life everywhere present. It doesn’t require external silence. It requires a listening for the internal voice that is always with us, particularly the Universe’s love for us right here and right now.
Every single one of us is a broadcast station. We’re broadcasting a vibration of the major thoughts we’re holding. These thoughts tend to show up in the way we hold our faces, the way our shoulders are tense or relaxed. Our thoughts show up in how we walk with either a lift in our step, or heaviness.
Right where you are right now, you are a broadcast station. You are broadcasting to the universe the energy of your predominant thought. That, through the Law of Attraction, draws unto you ideas, people, circumstances and situations that are in exact accordance with the prayers you’re saying even if you might not realize the prayers.
Let’s together, on this day, make a decision to create a perfect day by broadcasting gratitude. Let’s broadcast appreciation and broadcast how good it is and precious it is to be in this human life this day.
Bob Proctor once said change is constant and inevitable, but personal growth is a choice.
I remember when he said that to me. He said you know Mary, change is constant and change is inevitable but personal growth; what you do with it, whether you grow with it, whether you become more, whether you decide to grow with what’s happening in your life, that’s a choice.
Realize that today you and I have been given the greatest gift of life and that is choice. We get to choose how we will be with what’s happening. We get to choose whether we will grow. We get to choose whether we will give. We get to choose the life we will live this day.
We have been given the greatest gift there is, choice.
Choose to express the greatness you are on this day.
Walt Whitman, just a wonderful American poet and philosopher wrote:
From this hour I ordain myself loosed of limits and imaginary lines,
Going where I list, my own master total and absolute,
Listening to others, considering well what they say,
Pausing, searching, receiving, contemplating,
Gently, but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the holds that would hold me…
I am larger, better than I thought, I did not know I held so much goodness.
He says from this hour I ordain myself loose of limits and imaginary lines. Would you be willing to ordain yourself this day loose of limits and imaginary lines?
In the emerging field of psychology titled positive psychology, they have discovered that you and I can choose what mood we want on a daily basis. Some of us are subject to the moods of the moment, the moods of the weather, and the moods of other people’s opinion.
What they discovered is that people who live in the deepest levels of personal satisfaction choose their own moods. That’s an exercise just like exercising a muscle.
I invite us, in this moment, to choose what mood we want to generate today. Is it the mood of joy, the mood of support, the mood of forgiveness, the mood of compassion? What would be the mood that you choose? What mood would you like to be contagious to every person that you meet?
Let us practice exercising that we can actually choose our mood. We can generate, broadcast and feel any positive thing we choose. Notice what happens in our own energy of wellbeing and personal satisfaction when we choose our mood.
I heard Dr. John DiMartini say support plus challenge equals the best formula for growth. Right now consider your life and where the challenge is and what the support is.
Know that life takes care of the challenge and it’s up to you to take care of the support. This doesn’t mean that life isn’t providing the support. It does mean it’s up to us to look for, appreciate, and then draw to us the kind of support that will help us. We must find support to not only meet but surmount that challenge. That’s how we grow.
Sometimes support is found by amplifying the way we give support. Sometimes support is found by the way we appreciate the support that is in our environment right now. Sometimes support is found by choosing to put on a piece of music that’s inspiring.
Support plus challenge equals the best formula for growth and all of life is inviting you and me this day–grow, grow, grow.
Joseph and Mary traveled from Nazareth to Bethlehem, where the birth of the Christ occurred. That is a symbolic journey for you and for me.
The journey south from Nazareth to Bethlehem is the journey from the head to the heart. It is a pilgrimage of finding the Holy Self. So I encourage you to consider taking a journey from the head to the heart and bring your focus of attention; your awareness right to your heart and see how well you can stay focused there today.

This morning in my meditation, I began to think about the word, center. I’ve often used meditation as a time of centering.
There is a center within each one of us of perfect peace.
There is a center within us which gives us access to infinite knowledge and wisdom. There is a center within us where perfect guidance for our day can be found and received.
To live from that center would bring a centering practice. We can practice seeing God in hiding in every person and situation. We can use every single moment as an opportunity to see that this moment is the curriculum of the teaching for my soul to remember who I am.
I was in Georgia once and I found out that the governor of Georgia had invited the clergy from around the state to come pray at the Capitol Building. So hundreds of clergy and non-clergy alike came and gathered at the Capitol Building and prayed for rain because there has been a drought and they really need some rain.
Wouldn’t you know it, within twenty-four hours they got some rain? I think sometimes we forget about the power of prayer, that prayer really is a force. It’s energy. It is a power.
I don’t know what the need is in your life right now but I do know this, that there is a power that is with you and will work with you and through you if you remember to take your mind to prayer. Put your heart in that prayer and trust the results to the One who guides this life. Have a great day of prayer.
